Cookeville – Rosa Smith is the new Assistant Director of Economic Development at The Upper Cumberland Development District.
According to a release, Smith initially joined the UCDD team as an Economic Development Planner “with a passion for addressing the child care shortage in the region, and her dedication has now led her to this key leadership role.”
The Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) is delighted to announce the promotion of Rosa Smith to the position of Assistant Director of Economic Development,” UCDD said. “Smith initially joined the UCDD team as an Economic Development Planner with a passion for addressing the childcare shortage in the region, and her dedication has now led her to this key leadership role.”
According to the release, Smith has played a pivotal role is raining awareness about child care challenges in the Upper Cumberland and “actively works toward enhancing accessibility to affordable child care services. Her commitment to community development and her outstanding contributions have been recognized, leading to her promotion to Assistant Director of Economic Development.”
“I am both honored and excited to expand my responsibilities and take on the role of Assistant Director of Economic Development at UCDD,” said Smith. “I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the continued success and growth of our region.”
Smith said she acknowledges support received throughout her professional journey.
She said looks forward to “working collaboratively with the team to achieve collective goals and is eager to bring her skills, energy and dedication to this new role.”

UCDD is confident about Smith’s leadership.
“The Economic Development Team is lucky to have someone with as much passion and dedication as Rosa has exhibited during her time at UCDD,” said Megan Choate, Director of Lending and Economic Development. “She naturally leads and always goes above and beyond for her clients and co-workers. I am excited to have her step into the role of Assistant Director where she can provide greater support and leadership to the dedicated members of the Economic Development team.”
