Packs for Pints back again

The Biz Foundry & Upper Cumberland Young Lawyers Association collect backpacks for UC foster children

COOKEVILLE – The second annual Packs for Pints event will take place at Red Silo Brewing Company on July 16th starting at 5pm.

Last year, the Upper Cumberland Young Lawyers Association (UCYLA), in conjunction with The Biz Foundry, gathered 99 backpacks and school supplies for children living with foster families in the Upper Cumberland.

With over 400 children living in foster care in the UC, this singular event can help to support a decent number of those children.

Caroline Sapp, president-elect of UCYLA, is excited to partner on this event again.

“Our hope again this year is to bring excitement and joy to children in the Upper Cumberland at the start of the school year,” said Sapp.

Red Silo Brewing Company has also teamed up to support the cause. Anyone who brings a backpack filled with school supplies receives a free drink ticket to use on any Red Silo pint. Donors are encouraged to bring as many backpacks with school supplies as you’d like as well as bringing friends and family.

Elijah Thomen, co-owner of Red Silo, is excited to support this event again. Red Silo Brewing Company will donate the free pints to all donors over 21 years of age.

“Last year we welcomed over 50 area entrepreneurs and legal professionals. I’d love to see us double our backpacks this year!” said Thomen.

UCYLA is an affiliate of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and has been an active member of the community since 2008. The Biz Foundry is a non-profit entrepreneur center and coworking space servicing the region since 2012. Red Silo Brewing Company is the first micro-brewery to open in Putnam County and has been serving a variety of beers since 2016.
