“Her experience has even inspired a bigger purpose.”

(UCBJ) – 11-year-old Corynn May recently walked across the stages of New York Fashion Week. Quite an accomplishment, but a few years ago, that may have seemed impossible.

“A few years ago, Corynn faced severe skin infections related to a skin-picking disorder, and doctors warned that if the behavior didn’t stop, she could risk losing her legs,” according to her mother, Heather.

It took a lot of healing, but Corynn healed.

“Her experience has even inspired a bigger purpose – she hopes to one day launch her own skincare line to help others feel confident and comfortable in their own skin,” says mom.

The runway isn’t the only stage where Corynn is shining. She is also starring in a short film, The Countdown, which recently wrapped production. She was selected from approximately 25 audition reels.

The feedback was immediate.

“The director said that the moment he saw her audition, he knew she was the right fit because her delivery felt the most authentic,” said Heather.

Being in the spotlight, however, is nothing new for Corynn.

“She has played softball her entire life and has been performing since she was just three years old, when she appeared as a munchkin in a production of The Wizard of Oz,” according to Heather.

Since then, she has continued to grow both on the field and on stage, performing in California, Louisiana and Tennessee, gaining confidence and experience with each opportunity. Today she is “healthy, growing in confidence and thriving in ways that once felt impossible.”

For Corynn, the battle – from health struggles to fashion runways – is just the beginning of a bigger story yet to be written.
