New 120,000-square-foot facility will join ABB’s recently completed manufacturing site in Selmer
(UCBJ) – According to state officials, ABB, a global technology company in Industrial Connections & Solutions, will invest $50 million and create 227 new jobs in Selmer. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Deputy Gov. and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter and ABB officials announced the expansion on Nov. 5.
The expansion marks ABB’s second major investment in Selmer since 2025.
The project includes relocating operations to a new 120,000-square-foot facility at the Selmer/McNairy Industrial Park. The new building will sit alongside the company’s recently completed 325,000-square-foot facility and will manufacture and distribute busway and bus plug systems, along with other electrical products.
ABB will begin relocating approximately 90% of its equipment and employees during the first half of 2027, with the remaining equipment and employees to move during the second half of 2027.
“Our state is shaped by the brands that continue to call Tennessee home, and ABB’s latest investment will have a lasting impact on more than 200 families across Southwest Tennessee,” Lee said. “We’re grateful for this company’s partnership to make Tennessee the best place to live, work and raise a family, and I look forward to seeing their continued success for years to come.”
ABB will employ more than 1,500 Tennesseans across five locations in the state.
“One of the best measures of our economic development efforts is seeing companies already in Tennessee choose to expand,” McWhorter said. “Through their partnership with TNECD, the leaders in Selmer and McNairy County have prioritized site development and long-term planning, and today’s announcement is proof that those investments in community preparedness make a difference. I thank both the company and our local partners for their commitment to creating opportunity in West Tennessee.”
Last year, the company announced plans to invest $100 million and create more than 50 jobs.
