First 100 Children to Check In Will Receive Free Food and Treats
(UCBJ) – Families are invited to bring their bikes and join the FREE Kids Community Bike Ride on Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to noon behind the Algood Public Library at 125 4th Ave. Designed especially for children and families, including new, elementary-aged and middle school riders, the event will feature one-mile family bike rides along the Rail-Trail, games, giveaways, safety activities, food and plenty of opportunities for kids to have fun and learn.
Families should bring their own bikes, and parents and guardians are encouraged to stay and participate throughout the event. A parent or guardian must check children in near the library building.
The first 100 children to check in will receive a free event badge/pass providing access to a hotdog and chips, Kona Ice and Pelican’s tastings, juice and water. Children who complete the various activity stations will also be entered into drawings for free prizes, including bikes and bike accessories.
Parents and guardians are welcome to participate in the free activities and are encouraged to ride or walk alongside their children on the Rail-Trail. Food vendors will also be available for adults who wish to purchase food.

Activities will include:
- Algood Fire Department fire truck and water activities
- CPR education
- Inflatable jungle gym
- Bike safety education with Algood Police
- One-mile Rail-Trail family ride
- First Aid education
- Bike repair station with Scouts BSA
- Games, giveaways and prizes
- Optional bike-adventure obstacle course
The event is hosted by the Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation in support of Carmen’s Fund, in memory of Carmen Burnette. Carmen’s Fund provides free CPR, AED and First Aid training for Upper Cumberland school system teachers and employees and volunteers of nonprofit organizations. Using American Heart Association guidelines, the program trains approximately 600 people each year.
The Family Bike Ride is made possible through the support of Cookeville Regional Medical Center, First National Bank, City of Algood, Cookeville Bicycle, First Horizon, US Foods and Rad Life Mobility, along with local safety, cycling and community partners.
