UPPER CUMBERLAND – The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a community service and work-based job training program for older Americans.
SCSEP provides income-eligible unemployed individuals age 55 and over with paid part-time job training positions within organizations or host agencies, like UCHRA, that serve community needs. While in the program, participants receive work-related training to gain the skills and experience they need to transition into unsubsidized employment. SCSEP promotes personal dignity and self-sufficiency through work. Its temporary part-time community service jobs provide a hand-up, not a hand-out for older, unemployed low-income Americans. SCSEP allows eligible persons to participate for up to four years, but the average tenure nationally is 18 months with the experience and training they receive leading them to permanent employment.
Counties served include Clay, Cumberland, Overton, Pickett, Putnam and White.
If you are 55 or older and interested in gaining on-the-job training while earning a wage, please reach out to Judy Randolph at 931-528-1127 to learn more about opportunities for placement in your community or visit www.uchra.orgfor more information.
