CROSSVILLE – Angela Witzel, owner of the Dogwood Exchange in Crossville, has made it to the Top 5 for her group in the DIY HERO National Competition. This national competition is sponsored by Barnwood Living and is looking for the next big name in DIY (Do It Yourself). The winner of the competition will win $25,000 and a 2-page article/spread in Makers Magazine, a national publication for makers.
The competition is open to all designers and makers in the US to apply for the competition and it is the world’s largest online competition. However, not everyone who applies is accepted. The sponsor selects which makers will participate in the competition.
Voting has started for this round and to support Angela you can vote at her link: http://diyhero.org/2022/angela-witzel. People can vote once daily for free or additional votes can be purchased with the money for votes going to the American Lung Association.
The Group Finalists go to the next round (April 7 – 14) where public voting will help reduce the total entrants to one preliminary winner in each group who will then advance to the Quarter Finals.
The Quarter Finals start April 15 and ends April 21. Preliminary group winners will be divided into Quarter Finals groups. Voting will be reset, and public voting will determine one winner from each Quarter Final group who will then advance to the Semifinals.
The Semifinals start April 22 and end April 28. Quarterfinal winners will be divided into semifinal groups. Voting will be reset, and public voting will determine one winner from each Semifinals group who will then advance to the finals.
The Finals begins April 29 and ends May 5. Voting will be reset, and public voting will determine the winner of the 2022 DIY Hero Competition (the “Grand Prize Winner”) on May 5.
