Award-winning projects were recognized during NADO’s 2023 Annual Training Conference held in Cleveland

Upper Cumberland – The Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD), along with area project partners WCTE PBS, Upper Cumberland Tourism Association and Tennessee Tech University, received a 2023 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for work on the collaborative tourism television series Wish You Were Here: Adventures in Tennessee’s Upper Cumberland.

Award-winning projects were recognized during NADO’s 2023 Annual Training Conference held in Cleveland, OH, Nov. 7 – 10. The 2023 class of award recipients consisted of 107 projects from 71 organizations spanning 28 states. Wish You Were Here marked the only project from Tennessee to be honored during the presentation.

Wish You Were Here is a tourism television series championing the beautiful and unique amenities offered throughout the 14-county Upper Cumberland region, showcasing some of the most biodiverse geography and sites in the southeastern United States. The wide variety of activities and amenities available in the Upper Cumberland region offers something for everyone.

Each episode of Wish You Were Here features a correspondent at each location who interacts with local experts and guides on a variety of topics unique to the Upper Cumberland including the many state parks, water reservoirs, historic sites, natural landmarks, and family-owned and operated businesses.

Episodes air on WCTE-PBS and can also be streamed at www.wcte.org.
