Overall unemployment improved in the area in the month of March

Pickett County had Tennessee’s highest unemployment rate in March at 5.7%. The rate was down six-tenths of a percentage point from February’s rate of 6.3%.

Elsewhere in the Upper Cumberland, Warren County has a rate of 3.6%, up slightly from 3.5%. Elsewhere, Cannon County sits at 3%, while Clay sits at 4.7%. Cumberland County sits at 4.3%, and DeKalb County landed at 3.8%.

Fentress stands at 3.3%, as does Van Buren. Jackson County stands at 4.2% in March, and Macon County’s number stands at 2.8%. Overton stands at 3.4% while Putnam sits at 3.1%. Smith landed at 3.1%.

White County sits at 4.1% for the month.
