Program allows high school students to earn college credits while still being involved in extracurricular

Recently, Putnam County Middle College celebrated its grand opening in Cookeville with a ribbon cutting.

The Cookeville–Putnam County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) was on hand for the event.

“Today, we celebrated the grand opening of Putnam County Middle College,” said the Chamber. This exciting collaboration between Putnam County Schools and Vol State at the Upper Cumberland gives students the opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and a VSCC associate degree.”

Ribbon cutting – Vol State Community College and the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of Middle College in the Upper Cumberland.

The program allows high school students to earn college credits while still being involved in extracurriculars.

“It’s a major milestone for education in Putnam County! A big thank you to everyone who made this possible,” said the Chamber.

Vol State Community College (VSCC) said the day was special.

“What a wonderful day in the Upper Cumberland as Putnam County schools and Vol State came together in a Ribbon cutting ceremony,” said VSCC in a statement. “… This will give students the opportunity to graduate with both a Highschool Diploma and an associate degree! We are so excited for these new opportunities! Thankful for everyone who was able to attend!”
