HILHAM – Hilham Elementary students will have new wobble chairs thanks to the efforts of fourth grade teacher Spring Choate.

Choate applied for an Insuring Success Grant from Swallows Insurance and Lite Rock 95.9. Wobble chairs help students with high energy levels.

“It helps them stay focused in class and still allows them that movement that they need,” Choate said. “The students really responded well to it, and they became more focused and more engaged in the lessons.”

The grant program gives local teachers the chance to request funds to assist with ideas they would like to pursue, creative strategies for teaching or for equipment and resources the school system cannot provide.

“It is absolutely great to have community helpers,” Choate said. “Since COVID has hit, we have not been able to do many fundraisers, so we are extremely grateful to have the help.”

“We are so happy to be able to help these teachers who are training the next generation,” Kelly Swallows, Swallows Insurance Vice President of Operations, said. “It is so amazing hearing these teachers’ stories and to see how it will help students.”

Teachers in any field at schools across the Upper Cumberland can apply for the grants. Applications take just a few minutes and are available at LiteRock959.com. Both classroom teachers and those in specialty fields can apply.

“In many cases, teachers are doing this out of their own pocket,” Swallows said. “We’ve teamed up with Lite Rock 95.9 to take that burden away.”

It takes just a few moments to apply for the Insuring Success Grant presented by Swallows Insurance at LiteRock959.Com. The program helped Jackson County Middle School with its science program in November.
