Event will feature an authentic German meal

Cookeville – Heavenly Host Lutheran Church (HH) is hosting its 14th annual Oktoberfest celebration and fundraising event Saturday, Sept. 30 at 777 South Willow Avenue.

“Find that lederhosen or dust off the dirndl and kick off the beginning of Fall with the sights, sounds, and aromas of authentic German culture,” said HH in a release.

The event will feature an authentic German meal, including bratwursts, homemade potato salad, sauerkraut and strudel, served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 777 South Willow Avenue. Meal tickets are $12 per plate and children 6 and under are free. Meal tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event and all proceeds will be donated to the Cookeville Pregnancy Center, Operation United Hope and Doctors Without Borders.

Hot dogs, Coca-Cola products and beer from Calfkiller Brewery Company will also be available.

Carry out containers will be available for to-go orders.

While enjoying a traditional German meal, the sounds of German polkas, waltzes and classic songs will fill the air. Oktoberfest will also provide entertaining activities such as dancing, karaoke, a silent auction, bake sale, a bounce house for the kids and many outdoor games.

“Friends and families gather to enjoy an afternoon of German culture, great food and fun right here in Cookeville,” said Donnie Baumgart, Oktoberfest attendee. “It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon while supporting our church ministry.”

Oktoberfest is sponsored in part by Calfkiller Brewery Company and Coca-Cola.
