CRMC seeks nomination for Coffey Award

COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Regional Medical Center is currently seeking nominations for the 2018 Martin Coffey Cardiovascular Service Award. Recipients of this award may be current or past hospital employees, medical staff, board members, or other individuals in the community who have been active in the support of cardiovascular services at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The award recipient’s contributions must have had a positive and lasting effect on the scope and delivery of quality cardiovascular care to the patients of CRMC and the Upper Cumberland region.

The award was established three years ago in memory of the late Martin Coffey to recognize his distinguished service and in appreciation for his endeavors to not only establish the heart program at Cookeville Regional but also for his efforts to continually expand the program.

The award seeks to recognize an individual who best exemplifies the same commitment, loyalty and concern for Cookeville Regional and the patients it serves that Coffey demonstrated during his 13 years of service as the director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Last year the award was presented to cardiothoracic surgeon Lewis Wilson, MD, for his commitment and dedication to the heart surgery program at Cookeville Regional. Previous award recipients include the late Tom Little, in memory of his many contributions as both a leader and member of Mended Hearts Chapter 127, and cardiologist Alex Case, M.D., a native of Cookeville, who received the first Coffey Award for his involvement in helping to found the Heart and Vascular Center at Cookeville Regional, the only state-of-the-art cardiac care center in the Upper Cumberland.

Nominations must be submitted prior to Friday, Dec. 15, and should include a detailed written summary of the individual’s contributions to CRMC and cardiovascular health care in the community. Nominations may be emailed to Melahn Finley at mfinley@crmchealth.org  or submitted to:
