Parade will feature floats from around the region

Cookeville – The Cookeville-Putnam County Christmas Parade, “In Awe of Christmas” will be broadcast live on WCTE and emceed by Chamber President and CEO Amy New and WCTE-PBS CEO Avery Hutchins Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

The Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) says the parade will feature floats from around the region and would like to thank the presenting sponsors for making it all happen.

“This year’s parade is presented by Ford-Lincoln of Cookeville and Life Church,” said the Chamber. “The parade will feature float entries from across the region displaying their best version of this year’s theme, “In Awe of Christmas.” Christmas Parade float entry forms are available online or can be picked up and returned to the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce (1 W. First Street) by Nov. 30 at 5 p.m.”

Float entries are free. Submissions received after the deadline will not be accepted.

This year’s Grand Marshal will be Tennessee Tech’s Awesome Eagle.

“Awesome Eagle is a three-time, consecutive UCA National Championship title winner (2014, 2015, 2018),” according to the Chamber. “The 2023 Grand Marshal is sponsored by The River Community Church.”

As usual the main event is an appearance by the big guy, Santa Claus.

“Santa is sponsored by Thompson Cat Machinery and Rogers Group Inc. and the Window Decorating Contest is sponsored by Tatum Hill Interiors,” said the Chamber. “All businesses along the parade route are invited to participate in the Window Display Contest.”

Judging will take place on Dec. 8.

The parade begins at the intersection of Sixth Street and Washington Avenue, proceeds toward the junction of Washington Avenue and Broad Street, and then extends onward down Broad Street to reach the Cookeville Depot Museum. Road closures will begin on Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.
