COOKEVILLE – Averitt Express recently donated $5,000 to high schools in Putnam and Overton counties.
The donations are being made in recognition of the company’s rich history in both counties. It began in 1971 in Livingston and is now based in Cookeville. Averitt made the donation to Livingston Academy in honor of its roots, and contributed to Upperman, Monterey and Cookeville high schools as investments in honor of the ongoing support of its corporate campus in Cookeville.
“We’re proud of our original roots in Overton County, and we’re proud to have been based in Putnam County for 40 years now,” said Averitt President Wayne Spain. “Our local communities have been so good to us through the years. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 50th anniversary and show appreciation to those communities than to invest in our local schools.”
