Statewide bass fishing series to launch second event from Center Hill Lake
COOKEVILLE – Bass fishermen from across the state will be heading to Center Hill Lake for the second stop of the 2022 Tennessee Bass Kayak Series hosted by the Putnam County Visitors Bureau in partnership with BASSMASTER on Saturday, March 19.
“We are thrilled to welcome fishermen from across the state to Putnam County,” said Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber and Visitors Bureau President Amy New. “We place a heavy emphasis on recruiting events like these to the Upper Cumberland, as we know these fishermen and their families will fall in love with our area and will thereby be supporting our economy during their current and future stays.”
The inaugural event of the series took place on Dale Hollow Lake in Byrdstown with 97 anglers in attendance. The series culminates at the state championship in August on Lake Chickamauga in Chattanooga where the top 10% will go on to compete in the BASSMASTER Bass Nation Kayak Series Championship. The 2023 BASSMASTER Classic will be held in Tennessee again next year, with Center Hill Lake in contention for the championship event.
The 2021 season ended with Chris Walters earning the state title beating 77 anglers in a two-day event and taking home a cash prize of $2,755.
There are five total qualifying events for the state championship with an Angler of the Year prize of $1,000 based on the total of the angler’s top three finishes.
Entry fee for each event is $75 and each participant must be registered through both BASSMASTER and BASSNation. For details concerning the events, contact tournament directors Daniel Davis at (423) 505-6092 or Steve Owens at (423) 681-9519.
