Property owner Broad Street Properties requested the city “never use the site again for a water tank”
Thursday evening, the City of Cookeville City Council approved a resolution to abandon an easement for a water tank and access road on 1100 South Willow Avenue.
The property is located just off I-40 and Willow and is the future site of the two “big box retailers.” Development Management Group, LLC (DMG) of Nashville oversees the proposed retail center with two “anchor” locations, including a 128,000 square foot retail space and a second “anchor” location of 107,000 square foot, three restaurant spaces (including a 5,000 square foot building) and a garden center.
All signs point to those retailers being Target and Home Depot. Check out that story HERE. Of course, there has been no official announcement yet, but check back for updates.
Property owner Broad Street Properties requested the city “never use the site again for a water tank.” According to official documents, “the easement for access to the tank accepted by the City of Cookeville” in February 1964 “should be … abandoned.”

The tank was removed from service before being torn down in 1984. The city will, however, retain the water line easement in the original grant and “may modify its location on a subdivision plat that has been presented to the city for consideration.”
Councilman Ali Bagci made a motion to approve before Councilman Erik Walker seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
