Nomination comes on the heels of Ralph’s celebrating 60 years in business in the city in 2022
According to reports, Ralph’s Donuts, Cookeville’s oldest doughnut shop, will be considered for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the nation’s historic places worthy of preservation. The National Park Service administers the National Register to help “identify, evaluate, and protect America’s historic and archaeological resources.”
The nomination comes on the heels of Ralph’s celebrating 60 years in business in the city in 2022. Over the past 63 years, Ralph’s has become a calling card for Cookeville, attracting people from all over to grab a dozen.
On Jan. 1, 2020, John McDonald became Ralph’s new owner.
“It feels really good to be a part of something like this,” McDonald told the UCBJ. “Business has been great, and we have been very blessed.”
Ralph’s has always been a strong driver of the local economy. The State Review Board will meet in Nashville May 16 at 9 a.m. to consider the shop for inclusion.
