Portobello Group looks to invest around 160M

Cookeville – According to reports, Portobello Group‘s new production facility in Cookeville is slated to open by March or April of this year. The factory is expected to provide 230 jobs when operational.

Portobello Group, a porcelain and ceramic tile producer, looks to invest around 160M (80M allocated to construction) to the new 895,000 square foot facility that sits on 92 acres in Baxter.

“From Day One of production, the new factory will be able to double originally planned capacity of smaller pieces, such as 8 x 8,” 3 x 6,” 3 x 12” and everything in between,” said Jeb Durbin, vice president of Manufacturing & Outsourcing. “There is a strong demand from our North American customer base for these to augment some of our bestselling porcelain collections. The pieces will be produced using the same body materials as included in our field tile ranges, such as Terralma and Gouach. And they will be just as high-end in appearance.”

The facility will also be the home of Portabello North America’s corporate offices.

“Portobello America combines cutting-edge technology and logistics to create a unique offer of tailor-made solutions to the U.S. market,” according to portobelloamerica.com.
