March 1March Hare family tea party at the Kiwanis Cookeville Children’s Museum

Come to the museum from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for a Wonderland themed party complete with free tea, biscuits and crepes. Free to members and included with admission. March 6-April 5“A Woman’s Work is Never Done” exhibit at the Sutton Homestead

Featuring hand work of the past and present created by ladies of our past and local residents. Art includes crocheting, knitting, tatting, quilting, heirloom sewing, huck towel, needlepoint, cross-stick, embroidery and more.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and event runs from 7-10 p.m. Comfort food. Cost is $30 per person. Must be 21-plus. Adult refreshments available. No BYOB. March 8 – Edgar Evins hosts spring wildflower hike

Spring wildflowers are beginning to appear. Join us at 10 a.m. CST on an early hike to welcome the first arrivals. A 2.5-mile easy to moderate hike begins at the Millennium trail head and lasts about two hours. For more information, call (931) 858-2114.

March 14 – T.Graham Brown at the Palace Theatre in Crossville

T.Graham Brown is an American country music singer. Three of these singles – “Hell and High Water” and “Don’t Go to Strangers” from 1986, and “Darlene” from 1988 — reached number one, and eight more reached top 10. Tickets will be reserved seating with the front eight rows of downstairs going for $25.50 and the rest of downstairs and the balcony $20.50. Tickets will increase $3 the day of the show. March 15 – Wine train excursion to DelMonaco

Book reservations at www.tcry.org for a 168 mile round trip from Nashville to DelMonaco Winery and back. A full wine tasting will be available en route to DelMonaco with food vendors, local artists and activities once you reach the winery.

March 15 – Red Pump Cafe at the Armour Hotel

Open mic night. A chance for local performers to be on stage. Singers, writers, storytellers, poets, comedians, musicians are invited. Conducted like a live radio show from the 1930s and 1940s, complete with five-minute mystery theatre and radio ads highlighting the history of Red Boiling Springs. Celebrate all things waterfalls. A variety of programs will be offered to include talks from overlooks and guided hikes to more hidden waterfalls. Guides will explain the environmental and historical significance of these water features to this area. All ages and groups welcome.

The second hike of the spring equinox will provide views of spring wildflowers on the Highland Rim Nature Trail and sightings of migrating birds. This is a moderate hike. March 22 – Wine, Shine & Stein Tour through the Upper Cumberland

A one-of-a-kind tour through DelMonaco Winery, Calfkiller Brewery and Short Mountain moonshine Distillery. The tour starts at 9 a.m. at DelMonaco Winery and will end back there about 4 p.m. A stop for lunch is included between the destinations. Tickets are $35. Reservations are required. March 22–23, 29-30 – Rock Island hosts guided wildflower hikes

Examine the region’s signs of spring in their domain. Meet up with plant specialist in the region and staff to hike trails lined with flowers from both the upper Cumberland and Middle Tennessee Basin. Times and speakers to be announced.

March 22 – Cordell Hull Birthplace hosts spring hike

Join the park manager and other nature enthusiasts along the Bunkum Cave Trail in search of spring blooms. Folklore, medicinal and edible use and identification will be discussed. Hikers meet at the Bunkum Cave trail head at 9 a.m. CST. For more information, call (931) 864-3247

March 29 – “Joyful Jubilee” at the Cumberland County Playhouse

An evening of choral music, titled “Joyful Jubilee,” features more than 200 voices at 7:30 p.m. on the Mainstage. Impresario and soprano Brenda Frye conceived and developed the Jubilee, along with Playhouse star and Broadway touring veteran Weslie Webster. The evening will feature the combined choirs from University of Tennessee, Tennessee Tech and Cumberland County Community Chorus.
