Sports Wagering Council regulates online sports wagering and fantasy sports in Tennessee

Nashville – Tom Flynn of Cumberland County is the newest Tennessee Sports Wagering Council member.

Flynn, the owner, and operator of Flynn Sign Co. has been a successful small-business owner for nearly five decades in Cumberland County. Flynn Signs is a leader in On-Premise Digital LED Sign applications for businesses, worship centers, municipals and financial and educational institutions for Crossville, Cumberland and surrounding counties.

Speaker of the house Cameron Sexton made the appointment.

“Tom Flynn is a big-time local business owner, and his knowledge and background will serve us well on the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council,” said Speaker Sexton. “I appreciate Tom’s willingness to serve, and I know his professional success will greatly benefit the entire Council, as well as the future of this emerging industry within our state.”  

According to its website, the Sports Wagering Council (SWC) regulates online sports wagering and fantasy sports in Tennessee. The Council oversees the licensing and registration process for online sports wagering operators, sports wagering vendors and fantasy sports operators, as well as monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Tennessee Sports Gaming Act, Tennessee Fantasy Sports Act and related rules.

“Interest in fantasy sports has rapidly increased here in Tennessee, and this industry will play a considerable role in generating future revenue for our state,” said Flynn. “I am grateful to Speaker Sexton for the incredible opportunity to serve as a member of the SWC, and I look forward to working with members to ensure this industry continues to grow and succeed.”   

Flynn’s term begins immediately and runs through June 30, 2027.
