Bakery hosting Halloween Cupcake party, ribbon cutting and open house

Sparta – From her kitchen to the community. That was the goal for LaLa’s Cupcakes owner Lori Wright when she started baking 15 years ago.

If you are ever in Sparta, do yourself a favor and pay LaLa’s Cupcake’s a visit. You won’t be sorry, but check the GPS because the bakery specializing in “cupcakes, cakes and all things chocolate” has moved to its new location at 451 Vista Drive in Sparta, and on Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m. LaLa’s will host a ribbon cutting and “Holiday Open House” to commemorate the move.

Open House – LaLa’s will hold ribbon cutting and open house.

Wright says after a year and a half at her old location, it was the right time for a move.

“The old space was fine for what we were doing,” said Wright of LaLa’s old building. “But we decided we wanted to expand. So, I searched and searched and found the new spot. It is perfect for what we needed.”

LaLa’s now has a much larger space and has added lunch to a menu that already includes lemonades and smoothies. Cupcake lovers can now dine in as well.

“That makes a huge difference in our business,” said Wright.

More parking. More space. More everything.

“Parking is a big difference,” she said. “People can just park and come on in.”

The bakery is hosting a “Halloween cupcake party” October 28 from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. to celebrate the spooky season. Customers can reserve a spot at the party by calling 931-837-2253.

Halloween.

Cupcakes.

Yes, please.

It’s just another way Wright hopes to spread the word.

“I’m super excited,” said Wright.

Wright says since she started baking in her living room 15 years ago, word-of-mouth has been her most important marketing. Some things never change. There will be a couple of vendors on site and giveaways.

Call it a jump-start on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“We are trying to get the community out,” she said. “I’m still finding there are a ton of people who don’t know we are in town. So, I am trying to get the word out and make sure people know we are over here.”

It is a community she knows well. Wright was born and raised in Sparta.

“I am super excited to be in this community and to be able to serve my hometown,” said Wright. “I love being in Sparta. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

The move is the latest step on a journey for Wright that started in her kitchen before expanding to the original shop on the strip. All she ever wanted was to make cupcakes for a living in the community she loves.

Sometimes dreams come true.

“For probably the past 10 years, I have dreamed of opening a cupcake shop,” she said. “I remember being scared and asking myself if it would work, praying about it and making sure it was the right thing to do. A couple of years ago, I felt like it was the right time. Everything lined up, and God just put everything in place. It was the same with this location. Everything came into place. This was my vision of the shop all along. Amazingly, I get to work in a place I have wanted for so long. I feel so blessed.”

LaLa’s is much more than just delicious cupcakes.

“We consider our business a ministry as well,” she said. “We like to help people and have a prayer room inside our shop. It’s more to us than just selling cupcakes.”

Lala’s is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information visit HERE or call 931-837-2253 or email lalascupcakestn@gmail.com.
