Baxter – Ceramics company Portobello America officially cut the ribbon Saturday on its almost one million square foot building at 8701 Ditty Road in Baxter.

The facility is expected to bring with it 250 jobs.

“We are proud to introduce Portobello America’s first factory in Tennessee,” said Portobello in a statement. “We are confident in this location’s strategy, market potential and the expertise of our American team – and are excited to see what the future brings.”

The event featured an open Inauguration ceremony, ribbon cutting and first look at the company’s interactive showroom. There were also factory tours before some event guests headed to Nashville for a celebration dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon.

The property features a 986,000-square-foot cutting-edge manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 38 million square feet and a large-scale production capability. According to the company, the facility can “deliver a complete portfolio of high-quality styles while reducing lead times and shipping costs.”

The plant is almost ½ mile long and is home of the company’s U.S. offices and headquarters. Portobello Group is based in Tijucas, Santa Clarita, Brazil and has invested more than $150 million into the project.

“The group brings a unique perspective to product development and innovation that we are able to leverage in our US business,” according to portobelloamerica.com. “Through ongoing market research in our Portobello Shops network, it allows us to tap into emerging trends and consumer needs.”
