MCMINNVILLE – Dr. Anthony G. Kinkel was named president of Motlow College during a special called meeting of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in May and will begin his new position Aug. 1.

Kinkel has 30 years of service in public education. He was elected six times to the Minnesota House of Representatives and twice to the Minnesota Senate.

“Dr. Kinkel is a leader with a commitment to service, to helping students reach their potential, and to understanding the workforce and education needs of the communities he serves,” TBR Chancellor John Morgan said in a release. “In addition to his previous work as a college president, he will bring teaching, administrative and policy making experience to the role, a distinguishing combination.”

Kinkel will become the institution’s sixth president. He succeeds Dr. MaryLou Apple, who retired June 30.

Motlow’s main campus is in Moore County, and the college boasts three learning centers in Fayetteville, McMinnville and Smyrna. Its 11-county service area includes the UC’s Cannon, DeKalb, Van Buren, Warren and White.
