COOKEVILLE – Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is reducing business hours at its Cookeville store beginning Monday, Aug. 8.
The change affects a total of 36 retail locations overall. New hours will be 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Saturday hours, which are 8 a.m.-8 p.m., are not affected.
The shift puts Goodwill stores back on a schedule similar to one in place prior to April 2015, said Chris Burr, Goodwill’s senior director of retail. The new Sunday hours will also give many employees the freedom to attend traditional church services, he said.
Current hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.
“After trying slightly expanded hours for a year, we have found that the original schedule, which was built around peak shopping demand, provides the best use of our resources to serve customers and the best life-work balance for our employees,” Burr added.
Hours at on-site Goodwill Donation Express Centers will also change. Those hours will now be 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday. Hours at donation sites not adjacent to stores will not change.
The Cookeville Goodwill is located at 575 S. Jefferson Ave. The sale of donated items in Goodwill’s stores funds the not-for-profit’s mission of changing lives through education, training and employment.
