COOKEVILLE – Find that lederhosen or dust off the dirndl and kick off the beginning of Fall with the sights, sounds and aromas of authentic German culture.
Heavenly Host Lutheran Church is proud to host its 13th annual Oktoberfest celebration Saturday, Sept. 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 777 S. Willow Ave. Meal tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 4 to 10. Kids under the age of 4 are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the church or at the door on the day of the event. All proceeds will go towards updating the campus kitchen to benefit the church and the Heavenly Host Lutheran Early Childhood Center.
Favorites on the authentic German-Bavarian menu are back including bratwursts, homemade potato salad, sauerkraut and strudel for dessert. Hot dogs are also included along with Coca-Cola products and beer from Calfkiller Brewery Company. Food will be served from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and carry out containers will be available for to-go orders.
While enjoying a traditional German meal, the sounds of German polkas, waltzes and classic songs will fill the air. Oktoberfest will also provide entertaining activities such as dancing, karaoke, a silent auction, bake sale and a balloon artist for kids.
“Friends and families gather to enjoy an afternoon of German culture, great food and fun right here in Cookeville,” said Donnie Baumgart, Oktoberfest Coordinator. “It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon while supporting our church ministry.”
Oktoberfest is sponsored in part by Calfkiller Brewery Company, Coca-Cola, and Thrivent. For more information, call the church office at 931.526.3423, or visit www.heavenlyhostlcms.org.
