Gainesboro gets artsy: Arts in the Appalachians returns for third year

JACKSON COUNTY – Gainesboro’s third annual art walk, Arts in the Appalachians, returns this weekend to the town’s historic downtown square.

A juried event featuring work in various media and supported by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the walk will be held Friday and Saturday. Artisans will be located inside various Gainesboro downtown buildings, offering their wares as well as demonstrating their crafts, from pottery, wood, jewelry, painting, ceramics and more. Restaurants and businesses around the historic district and in town will be offering discounts and specials during the event.

The walk is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

The walk will featured 14 artisans in nine locations, including Tutu Cute Dance Studio (200 S. Main St.), Smith Landing Company (110 S. Main St.) and 2015 Ovation Award winners for Favorite Restaurant, Bight of the Bend (106 E. Hull Ave.) and Bull & Thistle Pub (102 S. Main St.). This year’s featured artist is Tracey Young, an Appalachian Center for Craft graduate and ceramics artist.
