Broadcasting from Cookeville with a signal that blankets the region

(UCBJ) – The Upper Cumberland just got a whole lot louder. Classic Rock 98.5 has officially launched as the region’s newest radio station. According to a release, the station delivers “50,000 watts of crystal-clear classic rock to listeners across the entire Upper Cumberland.”

“No static, no interruptions, just pure, unfiltered rock and roll,” according to the release.

“Classic Rock 98.5 is exactly what the Upper Cumberland has been waiting for. We’re not just another station playing random hits — we are curating the soundtrack of people’s lives. The ‘70s, ‘80s, and ’90s produced the greatest rock music ever recorded, and our listeners deserve to hear it in perfect clarity, all day long,” said Jason Grider, on-air personality for Classic Rock 98.5.

The station is transitioning from a pop format to classic hits from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

“Classic Rock 98.5 is the home for fans of legendary artists like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Tom Petty, Nirvana, and hundreds more. With one of the most powerful broadcast signals in the region, the station reaches drivers on every highway, workers at every job site, and households from Cookeville to every corner of the Upper Cumberland,” according to the release.

Classic Rock 98.5 broadcasts at a full 50,000-watt power level, making it the second-strongest signal serving the Upper Cumberland.

“Listeners will enjoy a clean, static-free experience whether they’re tuning in from Cookeville, Crossville, Livingston, Sparta, Carthage or anywhere in between. The era of losing your signal mid-song is over,” according to the release.

The station features a roster of local, familiar on-air personalities, including:

  • Jason Grider — A familiar voice in Upper Cumberland radio, Jason brings energy, expertise and genuine passion for classic rock to every shift.
  • Hoseppy — A fan favorite known for his humor, deep knowledge of rock history and magnetic on-air presence.
  • Troy Ameen — Troy’s smooth delivery and encyclopedic knowledge of classic rock make him the perfect guide through the greatest era in rock history.

Grider said the station has a deep connection to the region.

“We’re not a corporate station being beamed in from Nashville or some big city. We live here. We shop here. Our kids go to school here. When you listen to Classic Rock 98.5, you’re supporting local radio, local jobs, and a station that truly cares about this community. That’s something you just can’t get anywhere else on the dial.”

With the launch comes new opportunities for local businesses.

“For advertisers, this is a dream format. Classic rock listeners are loyal — they don’t flip stations every five minutes. They settle in and they listen. That means your ad gets heard, every single time. And with 50,000 watts covering the entire Upper Cumberland, there’s no better way to reach this market than Classic Rock 98.5,” said Grider.

The station is located at 698 S. Willow Ave. For more information, call 931-526-7144, visit HERE, email info@GPMNow.com or hang out on social media.

“Classic Rock 98.5 is on the air now. Turn your dial to 98.5 FM and experience the Upper Cumberland’s newest – and most powerful – classic rock station,” according to the release.
