Ranking provides a data-driven look at the most successful companies within the economy’s most dynamic segment, independent and entrepreneurial businesses
The Sauna Place (SP) in Cookeville was recently named to the Inc. 5,000 list of 2024’s fastest-growing private companies in America. SP is a leader in sauna, sauna heaters, cold plunges and steam equipment sales.
“One of the greatest joys of my job is going through the Inc. 5000 list,” says Mike Hoffman, who recently joined Inc. as Editor-in-Chief. “To see all of the intriguing and surprising ways that companies are transforming sectors, from health care and AI to apparel and pet food, is fascinating for me as a journalist and storyteller. Congratulations to this year’s honorees, as well, for growing their businesses fast despite the economic disruption we all faced over the past three years, from supply chain woes to inflation to changes in the workforce.”
Inc. 5000 list
The ranking provides a data-driven look at the most successful companies within the economy’s most dynamic segment, independent and entrepreneurial businesses. Companies on the 2024 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2020 through 2023, according to Inc. 5000.
SP grew sales by 72% in that timeframe. For reference, Microsoft, Meta, Chobani, Under Armour, Timberland, Oracle, Patagonia and many other household-name brands gained their first national exposure as honorees on the Inc. 5000.
“The sauna market in the United States has grown tremendously and so has our team and their skills. Being recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America is a testament to the incredible products and services we provide, as well as the amazing community we’ve built here in Cookeville. This achievement isn’t just great for our business – it’s a win for our employees and the entire Cookeville region,” said SP President Tim Marbach.
Qualifying businesses must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit and independent companies founded and generating at least $100,000 in revenue by March 31, 2020. Companies must also not be subsidiaries of divisions of other companies as of Dec. 31, 2023, and generate at least $2M in revenue before passing editorial review.
For over 20 years, The Sauna Place has been dedicated to “merging European luxury with Southern charm and Tennessee craftsmanship, making sauna and steam showers an accessible luxury for every home or commercial space.”
“Our philosophy intertwines affordable pricing with customer service that exudes the warmth of Southern hospitality,” according to the company. “We aim to forge enduring connections, providing our customers with steadfast support for all of their sauna and steam needs.”
The Inc. 5000 class of 2024 represents companies that have driven rapid revenue growth while navigating inflationary pressure, the rising costs of capital and seemingly intractable hiring challenges, according to a release.
This year’s Inc. 5000 companies have added 874,458 jobs to the economy over the past three years.
“I just love seeing what wonderful spas people are building in their homes by combining saunas, cold plunges, showers and relaxation areas,” said Head of Product at SP, Laura Marbach. “It’s fun to work in the industry that makes products that both feel great, look good and are actually healthy for you. I truly believe that a day will come when in America there are as many saunas as pools.”
