Dogapalooza set for Sept. 24

COOKEVILLE– Dog lovers it’s that time of the year. A day full of fun for dogs and people who love them.

Leisure Services is excited to present the annual Dogapalooza at Cane Creek Dog Park on Saturday, Sept.24 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  A fun event for citizens and their pets! We look forward to a day full of tail wags and smiles!

“I can’t think of a better way to kick off the fall season than an outdoor event celebrating the favorite member of our family! Jen Webb, Leisure Services special programs coordinator said. “This event gives people a place to take their dog and have some fun not just with their dog but with family and friends too!”

During this event pet-related booths will line the sidewalk that leads to the fenced-in area where dogs are welcome to run leash-free and enjoy event attractions with their owners. There will be various food vendors, dog related activities, adoptable dogs and a dog parade.

“My favorite part is the parade and all the fun costumes the dog’s wear! If you love dogs this event is the best!” Webb said.

The event will take place at Cane Creek Dog Park, which is located within Cane Creek Park, across the road from Cane Creek Recreation Center at 180 CC Camp Road.

“We made some big changes last year at Dogapalooza. It was the first year the event happened at the new dog park.  We also added lots of fun booths and activities specifically for the dogs! We’re adding even more this year!” Cara Sheets Leisure Services recreation superintendent, said.

“Since the Cane Creek Dog Park has opened, I think having it at the dog park has been a smart move.” Sally Herren, Leisure Services recreation programmer said. “Dogapalooza is a way to bring the community together and share the same love for dogs. Dogs are a person’s best friend, and what a better way to celebrate dogs than to have an event all about our best friends!”

Cane Creek Dog Park has made this event into something new. If you did not have the chance to stop by last year you will not want to miss this year.

Businesses/organizations wishing to set up a booth at Dogapalooza should contact Cookeville Leisure Services as soon as possible at 931-526-7393. The fee is $25 (waved for nonprofit organizations).

In keeping with the theme of the event, all booths must be dog related. Promotional items, coupons, business cards and other pet-related information may be distributed.
