The medical center has served the community since 1950

Covenant Health Cumberland (CHC) held a ribbon-cutting for the hospital’s updated cardiac catheterization lab (“cardiac cath lab”) Friday, Feb. 7. A cardiac catheterization or “heart cath,” allows doctors to examine the heart and conditions of the heart muscle, valves and blood vessel, according to CHC.

“During the procedure, the patient receives light sedation while the cardiologist inserts a very small, flexible, hollow tube (catheter) into a blood vessel to reach the heart. Once the catheter is placed, tests are done to determine the heart’s ability to function,” says CHC.

The Crossville–Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce was on hand for the event.

“Today we held a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate our newly updated cardiac catheterization lab. The event recognized the hospital’s $1.2 Million investment in new equipment to provide more advanced care for cardiac patients close to home,” according to the CHC.

CHC says it was an honor to recognize the hospital’s $1.2 million investment in new equipment. More than 75 hospital staff, physicians and community leaders attended, according to a release by the CHC.

“We were honored to welcome nearly 100 hospital staff, physicians and community leaders, including members of the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, to celebrate this milestone with us. Thank you for your support as we continue advancing heart health in our community,” said CHC.

The medical center has served the community since 1950.

“Our team is dedicated to providing excellent heart care,” says Randy Davis, president and chief administrative officer. “I want people to know that they do not have travel to larger facilities for advanced, high-quality care – it’s available right here on the Plateau. If more advanced services are needed, we have access to other capabilities and providers by being part of Covenant Health.
