Sparta – On Thursday, Dec. 21, convenience behemoth Circle K opened the doors to its latest location in Sparta.

“You will be able to come here and start enjoying these services,” said Sparta Mayor Jerry Lowery in a statement on Facebook. “Gas and all the food options inside the store and hey, I’ve heard they’ve got Polar Pops. God Bless everyone and have a merry Christmas.”

The store is located at the corner of Mayberry and Bockman Way.

“Circle K’s success in the convenience retailing industry spans more than 60 years,” according to the Convenience giant. “Our roots trace back to 1951 when Fred Hervey purchased three Kay’s Food Stores in El Paso, Texas. Little did anyone know that these stores would serve as the beginning of Circle K.”

Hervey soon rebranded those stores as Circle K and by 1965 there were 200 Circle K stores. In 1999, Circle K started a franchise program to “support operators looking to build a business with a leading convenience store brand.”

Today Circle K is represented by multiple franchisees like the one opening in Sparta in over 20 countries.
