COOKEVILLE – Business leader and local community advocate Gene Bressler announced today that he is suspending his campaign for the upcoming City Council race in Cookeville.
Bressler qualified for the race on April 5 with the submittal of his documents to be on the ballot. But since then, a deteriorating health situation with some of Bressler’s closest elderly relatives whom he is immediately responsible has forced him to reconsider the best use of his personal time over the next several months.
“Serving the citizens of Cookeville is something that I feel very strongly about, which is why I was looking forward to an exciting and enthusiastic campaign for the City Council,” commented Bressler. “However, it’s just not the right timing for me and my family. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who has already reached out to support me during this campaign. Hopefully I can return to this race in the next cycle with 100% focus. But in the meantime, I encourage all voters to take an interest in Cookeville’s future by talking with and supporting the many other worthy candidates in this race.”
Bressler and his wife, Cathy, have lived in Cookeville for more than 20 years. They moved here when Gene became the Marketing / Sales manager of Automation Tool Company, where he currently serves as Vice President. During his tenure, the company has expanded from 45 employees to over 340 employees and joined forces with two other strategic companies to create a global resource for automation and specialty manufacturing systems.
