Small Business of the Month: July 2019

COOKEVILLE – The Progressive Savings Bank/Upper Cumberland Business Journal’s small business of the month for July 2019 is Upper Cumberland Foster Closet.

When children are placed in a foster home, they often arrive with only the clothes on their backs. Foster families accept these children at all hours, including the middle of the night, and attempt to provide a home to these children with their own limited resources. Financial assistance is provided but there is sometimes a delay between accepting children and receiving funds to help support them.

The Upper Cumberland Foster Closet attempts to bridge this gap. They act as a resource that foster families can quickly visit upon receiving a placement and get items these children need such as: clothing, shoes, car seats, and other basic needs, free of charge. Through the generous donation of these items from our local community, foster families will be able to use their own resources in other ways while the children are in their homes.

The Upper Cumberland Foster Closet is located at 1065B Willow Industrial Ct. in Cookeville. Donations are accepted at the Cookeville Children’s Museum during business hours and at the Willow Industrial Ct. location on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon starting July 13. Foster parents are welcome to shop during the Saturday hours. They can be reached at 931-239-6208.
