ALGOOD – The 8th annual Upper Cumberland Vulnerable Adult Summit will be held at Trinity Assembly in Algood, from 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 10. Discussion topics include abuse, financial exploitation, end of life planning – and other issues often affecting vulnerable adults.
Steve Field, Field Training and Consulting LLC, one of three featured speakers, will be presenting “The Link Between Animal Abuse and Other Forms of Family Violence,” “Slippery Slope (Financial Exploitation) and Weighing the Ethical” and “Practical Issues of Lifestyle vs. Risk to Community Safety (Hoarding).” He is a member of the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies (NAPSA) education committee and has held the role of trainer and curriculum development for the past 14 years.
Other presenters include John Robert Toy II, attorney at Parker, Toy and Associates, who will present “End of Life Planning,” and Stacey Crudup, ethics and compliance officer at Highpoint Health System, who will present “HIPAA and Ethics.”
Attendee registration is required by April 29 with seating limited to the first 100 participants; targeted attendees include attorneys, law enforcement officers, medical staff, elected officials, social workers, ombudsmen, conservators, adult protective services, district attorneys, financial Institutions, post office employees, in-home service providers, senior centers, advocates, caregivers and college students majoring in criminal justice, sociology, nursing, gerontology, etc. The cost to attend is $20 per person, or $40 per person for those using the program to earn CEU and CLE credits.
