Chamber Estimates 121,000 Visitors Came To The County In 2025

(UCBJ) – Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Mark Ezell, Josh Gibson and Ashley DeRossett recently met with Overton County Executive Austin Dodson, Livingston Mayor Lori Elder Burnett and other local leaders to discuss the future of tourism in the area, according to the Livingston Overton County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber).

Chamber data show Overton County welcomed an estimated 48,000 overnight visitors and 73,000 day visitors in 2025. The Chamber reported that 37% of all credit card spending came from people who live outside the county. Overnight visitors spend more than three times as much as day visitors and generate six times the tax revenue.

“That matters for every family here, because local option sales tax funds 65% of Overton County school revenue, which means visitor spending helps support our schools while easing the property tax burden on residents,” according to the Chamber.

The Chamber said it was encouraged to hear from state leaders about Overton’s work “on branding, marketing and wayfinding signage.”

“We are grateful for the state’s partnership and look forward to building on this momentum together.”
