Chadrick “Chad” Mundy Was Arrested Wednesday And Booked Into The Fentress County Jail

(UCBJ) – A Jamestown funeral home owner is facing a 52-count indictment following a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) probe into alleged deceptive business practices, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

TBI special agents investigated allegations of theft and fraud involving Mundy Funeral Home in May at the request of 8th Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler.

From the release:

“During the course of the investigation, agents gathered evidence indicating that Chadrick “Chad” Mundy (DOB:12/28/88), the owner of the business, filed numerous fraudulent insurance claims related to burial policies and financially exploited elderly and vulnerable clients for personal gain. Agents also gathered evidence indicating that Mundy mishandled cremated remains.”

On Wednesday, the Fentress County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Mundy with:

  • 12 counts of Fraudulent Insurance Act
  • 15 counts of Theft of Property over $2,500
  • Five counts of Theft of Property over $1,000
  • Four counts of Theft of Property under $1,000
  • Nine counts of Financial Exploitation of an Elderly or Vulnerable Adult
  • Four counts of Abuse of a Corpse
  • Two counts of Criminal Simulation
  • One count of Worthless Checks

Mundy was arrested Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Fentress County Jail on an $80,000 bond.

“The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law,” according to the release.
