WCTE has introduced the WCTE PBS Upper Cumberland Neighbor of the Year award.
According to a release by WCTE, PBS’s Annual Dinner March 27, themed: Be My Neighbor, “celebrates the life and legacy of Mister Rogers while highlighting what it means to be a neighbor in the Upper Cumberland. This year’s award ceremony will feature the new Upper Cumberland Neighbor of the Year award nominated by viewers like you.”
According to WCTE, the lessons of Mr. Rogers are still as important as they were for the decades the children’s show host was on air.
“Mister Rogers taught that being a good neighbor means caring about others, understanding their perspectives and helping them feel valued. He believed that neighbors can work together to solve problems and create a better world. Nominees must demonstrate these qualities through their actions and words. Nominees must be full-time residents within the 14 counties of the Upper Cumberland Region.”
Nominations run Jan. 17 – Feb. 17 and there is NO LIMIT to the number of times
you can nominate.
“A WCTE PBS committee will select the individuals with the highest number of nominations from each county to compete in the voting round. The 14 nominees will be announced Feb. 19 before voting begins the following day to elect the Upper Cumberland Neighbor of the Year award,” according to WCTE.
Voting ends on March 10th. The winner will be presented onstage at the WCTE PBS Annual Dinner on March 27th, 2025.
