The operation began in 2013
Operation United Hope will soon celebrate its new location in Cookeville. The mission is noble and important.
OUH serves a mission to “serve Veterans and Military families in Cookeville and the surrounding areas.”
“While most of those they assist are from local communities, they’ve even welcomed Veterans from as far as Alaska,” according to the Cookeville–Putnam County Chamber of Commerce who will be on hand for the celebration July 1 at 5725 TN-11 in Cookeville.
The operation, which began in 2013, gives back to those heroes who have served. Winn Koehler volunteered and became a board member to the nonprofit Newby-ginnings in Idaho. Inspired, and after her family relocated to Tennessee, she wanted to bring something similar to the area.
The military holds a special place in Koehler’s heart.
“Winn’s Dad was a WWII Veteran, and her husband is a disabled Iraqi freedom Veteran,” according to the organization. “She has had many family members and friends who have served in the military as well.”
She was led to help other Military families and “make sure, at the very least, that they had the necessities they needed.”
“This organization proudly gives back to those who have served by offering a free shop, pantry and support services,” according to the Chamber.
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to become more involved with the mission, meet the team involved and tour the facility. If you are coming look for the green buildings and be sure to enter the unit number (Unit 7) into your GPS.
