Cheatham, Dickson tie for lowest rate while Maury posts highest in April data
(UCBJ) – Eighty-nine of Tennessee’s 95 counties reported unemployment rates below 5% in April, according to new data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Two counties came in at 5% and four counties recorded rates above 5%.
County trends were mixed month over month. Thirty-six counties saw declines from March, 32 were unchanged and 27 increased. Cheatham and Dickson counties tied for the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.6%, with no change from the previous month.
Seven counties followed at 2.7%, including:
- Knox
- Williamson
- Wilson
- Sumner
- Blount
- Cannon
- Macon
Maury County posted the highest rate at 6.1%, up 1 percentage point from March. Lewis County followed at 5.8%, while Perry County recorded 5.3%. Tennessee’s statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April was 3.6%. County-level rates are not seasonally adjusted.
