Health issues cited as a reason for closure

According to a post by the owner, the Stockyard Café (SC) in Lafayette will not be reopening.

Located at 902 Scottsville Road in Lafayette, current ownership has been in place since 2016, but SC had been a family run institution since 1982.

“Everything happens for a reason,” said Whitney Hensley, SC Owner on Facebook. “As everyone knows The Stockyard Cafe has always been a special place to me and my family.

Hensley said her generation was “raised in that little building.”

“… Some of my fondest memories were made there that will never be forgotten,” she continued. “Growing up I met so many people and became close to everyone. Everyone one was like family.”

Hensley says it was dream come true when she was asked to take over.

“All of us worked there until it was time for us to go to school or follow our dreams after graduation,” she said. “In 2016 my dream came true, my nanny asked me to take it over, and I had planned to run it for many more years, but unfortunately that’s not the case.”

It is the end of an era.

“It is with such a heavy heart that I share the news that I will not be reopening The Stockyard Café,” she said.

Hensley noted health issues as one of the reasons for the closure.

“This was not an easy decision and has been incredibly hard for me and my family…,” continued Hensley. “… I just want the whole community to know how much I appreciate each and every one of you for everything! Love you all.”
