CROSSVILLE – The second annual Rocky Top Diesel Shootout Drag Race and Sled Pull will take place Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, in Crossville. The two-day event will feature a catered, test and tune event Friday night that will allow fans to meet drivers and vendors at the I-40 Dragway in Cumberland County.
The diesel drag race Saturday morning begins at 9 a.m. at the I-40 Dragway and will feature teams competing in the Outlaw Diesel Super Series’ Pro-Street, Pro-Mod and Pro-Dragster divisions. The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League sled pull takes place at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds Saturday at 5 p.m.
Last year’s Rocky Top Diesel Shootout brought dozens of race teams from all over the country as well as more than 3,000 fans to the Upper Cumberland. In addition to the drag racing and sled pulling, the event will include several diesel, racing, and off-road performance industry vendor booths as well as full food and drink concessions.
“Diesel Performance and drag racing is one of the fastest growing motorsports in America,” Mike Dalton, Cookeville resident, owner of RLC Motorsports and primary sponsor of the Rocky Top Diesel Shootout said. “It’s a turbo-charged, full-out drag race where over 2,000 foot pounds of torque push these high-tech brutes down the one-eighth mile just like top fuel dragsters.”
“Last year’s event exceeded all expectations and we believe this year’s diesel drag race and sled pull will be even better,” Dalton said. “With sponsors such as Lead Foot Diesel Performance and PPEI Custom Tuning, and partners like Outlaw Diesel Super Series and Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, we’re excited to see the level of competition continue to rise and bring this unique form of racing to Tennessee.”
Individual event tickets for each event are $20, and a two-day all-access pass including Test N Tune, Drag Race, and Sled Pull can be purchased for $50. For more information about the Rocky Top Diesel Shootout, visit http://www.rockytopdieselshootout.com or call (931) 526-5956.
