WARN notice notified the agency of a temporary layoff and the exact duration is currently unknown

Gordonsville – International Mining company Nyrstar, located at 120 Zinc Circle in Gordonsville has announced it will be laying off up to 300 employees starting this fall, according to reports.

The layoff will be temporary, according to the WARN notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development by Nyrstar Tennessee Mines – Gordonsville, LLC. The WARN notice notified the agency of a temporary layoff and the exact duration is currently unknown.

Nyrstar is an international producer of critical minerals and metals essential for a low carbon future, according to Nyrstar.com. With a market leading position in zinc and lead, Nyrstar has mining, smelting and other operations located in Europe, the United States and Australia and employs approximately 4,000 people. Nyrstar gathers and ships zinc concentrate from mines worldwide to various ports close to its operations. The company has market-leading positions in zinc and lead, producing refined products for the market. Nyrstar’s lead products include lead concentrate, refined market lead, lead-antimony alloys, copperized-lead alloys, calcium lead alloys and calcium tin-lead alloys.
