Manufacturing construction will increase almost 14% this year before stabilizing in 2025

Construction continues at a steady pace, according to Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter. In July, the county saw 40 permits worth $7.7M of construction. 18 of those were for new single-family residential homes.

According to AIA.org, the “largest, most influential network of architects and design professionals,” midyear update projects construction spending to gain momentum this year, but stall in 2025. AIA has more than 98,000 members.

“Spending on nonresidential buildings is projected to increase over 7% this year, but then slow to only 2% growth next year,” according to the website. “Commercial facilities activity effectively will be flat this year and next, manufacturing construction will increase almost 14% this year before stabilizing in 2025, and institutional construction will see a more than 10% gain this year before slowing to 4% in 2025.”

The Putnam number is up year-over-year. In July 2023, Putnam County had 36 permits for $8.4 million with 23 being new single-family homes.

“July permits generated $31,267 in fees which operates the Building Codes Department,” according to Porter. “Remember these are numbers for Putnam County that do not include any of the four cities.”
