Imel’s official retirement date has not been announced
Jenni Nisewander has been appointed to serve as the Finance Director Designee in preparation for the retirement of longtime Finance Director Brenda Imel, according to City Manager James Mills.
Imel’s official retirement date has not been announced, but a release by the city of Cookeville says the transition should be a smooth one.
“… This transition will allow Jenni to work closely with Brenda over the coming months to ensure a seamless shift in leadership,” according to a release by the city.
Nisewander has a lot of experience, including:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University (TTU)
- A Master of Business Administration from TTU
- She is also certified public accountant (CPA) and a Certified Municipal finance officer (CMFO)
“Before joining the City of Cookeville, Jenni spent nearly 15 years at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) on Arnold Air Force Base in TN, where she worked in accounting,” according to the release. She has been with the City of Cookeville since 2022, gaining valuable municipal finance experience.”
Born in Doyle, but living now in Cookeville, she has “strong ties to the local community.”
“We are excited to have Jenni step into this leadership role and continue the strong financial stewardship that Brenda has provided over the years,” said James Mills. “Her extensive background in accounting and finance, combined with her dedication to the City of Cookeville, makes her the ideal choice for this position.”
According to the release, city officials and employees extended gratitude for Imel’s “years of dedicated service” and says as retirement approaches, they will celebrate her contributions.
