Construction on the projects is set to begin Jan. 6, 2025
The Department of Leisure Services (DLS) has announced two projects in Putnam County will “enhance the Cookeville Performing Arts Center (CPAC) and Dogwood Park.”
Construction on projects is set to begin Jan. 6, 2025 and will continue through mid-September 2025.
“Construction will essentially take place simultaneously in 2 areas in and around CPAC. From Jan. 6, 2025 through the end of July 2025, work on the CPAC lobby, concession areas and restrooms will be completed,” according to a release by the City of Cookeville (city). “Both lobby restrooms will be completely remodeled for the first time since the building opened in 1979. Most notably, the women’s restroom will increase significantly in size.”
According to the City, the front and rear parking areas for CPAC and Leisure Services offices and the entrance to Dogwood Park from Walnut Avenue will be under construction.
“… With a new entry to the park, paving, lights, sidewalks and landscaping. Access to the front and rear parking lots and Dogwood Park from the west will be limited or inaccessible during this time due to the construction,” according to the release.
CPAC performances and Dogwood Park events will continue as scheduled.
“Temporary restroom facilities will be available for all events during this time at CPAC,” said the City. “Temporary or alternate entrances to CPAC and Dogwood Park will be utilized as needed to ensure safe access. Please follow Leisure Services on social media for the latest information concerning particular events.”
The Department says it anticipates all areas will be fully accessible by the middle of Sept. 2025.
“The Department of Leisure Services appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as these exciting improvements take place. These projects will enhance the overall visitor experience for years to come,” said the city.
