Site excavation began last week

Carthage – The Upper Cumberland Business Journal has learned that Taco Bell will be opening a new restaurant in Carthage at the intersection of Upper Ferry Road and the Carthage/Highway 25 bypass across from the Dollar Tree in Carthage.

Site excavation began last week. According to reports, the project has been in the planning stages for a while and has met all city planning commission regulations.

According to their website, Taco Bell says franchise locations like the one going up in Carthage are key to growth as a company and jobs in sometimes smaller markets. The restaurant chain has given opportunities to young employees since its inception in 1962 when Glen Bell opened the first Taco Bell restaurant in Downey, California.

In Nov. 2022, Taco Bell opened a new location in Baxter a year after breaking ground.

“We love to see new businesses come to our county, especially retail in our small cities,” Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said after that opening.

This is an ongoing story. Check back for updates.
