New pulmonologist joins Cookeville Regional staff

COOKEVILLE — The demand for pulmonologists has increased in this post-COVID environment.

Dr. Lisa Robinson is the newest member of the pulmonology team at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

“As a pulmonologist, I deal with the lungs and diseases such as lung cancer, asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease and post-COVID lung issues,” she said.

She earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002, completed her residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital and a fellowship in Oregon.

Robinson comes to Cookeville from South Carolina. She also previously practiced in Montana and Georgia.

The field of pulmonology has changed significantly since she started practicing in 2008. The biggest change was the emergence of COVID.

“It was such a dramatic change,” she said. “We became more hospital based and our patient volume increased.”

She is ready to see new patients and get to know people in the community.

“I’m excited to start my practice here,” she said. “Cookeville is a wonderful place for my children to grow up in.”

Robinson joins fellow pulmonologists Dr. Sobia Arshad, Dr. Bernadette Hee, Dr. Kaushal Patel and Dr. Luis Urbina at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine office at 145 W. 4th St.

“We are excited to have Dr. Robinson join the pulmonology team,” said Paul Korth, Cookeville Regional CEO. “Pulmonologists are an essential part of the healthcare team, especially post-COVID.”
