New Pickleball courts opening in Fairfield Glade

Fairfield Glade has added eight new outdoor Pickleball courts adjacent to its Racquet Center and indoor courts.

FAIRFIELD GLADE – Eight new outdoor pickleball courts will open in Fairfield Glade later this month.

The Fairfield Glade Community Club announced the grand opening for Saturday, April 29. The public is invited and a ribbon cutting is scheduled for 9 a.m. The courts are located next to Racquet Center on Stonehenge Drive.

Pickleball is fast growing in popularity.

Pickleball is played with a plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and paddles on a badminton court with a lowered net. Fairfield Glade started construction on the courts last year. It also has indoor Pickleball inside its Community & Conference Center.

The day’s events will include court play and free beginner instruction following the ribbon cutting from 9:30 a.m.-noon. Guests may sign up for lessons, leagues and receive information about Fairfield Glade pickleball. The first 50 attendees will also receive a free T-shirt and giveaway.

A pickleball round robin will take place from 1-4 p.m. The public is welcome to sign up for play during this time or to watch players compete.
