Market offers services and gifts from 50 local and regional vendors

Cookeville – So it begins.

The gate is open for the holiday rush and, in the Upper Cumberland, it all starts this weekend with the 20th annual Mistletoe Market (Market) in Cookeville. The annual event ushers in the holiday season and giving people the opportunity to peruse local boutiques at Leslie Towne Center (LTC) in Cookeville.

The two-day event will be held at 1 West First Street Friday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This year’s Mistletoe Market is going to be the best one yet,” Kathryn Molina, Director of Leslie Town Centre, said. “We cannot wait for everyone to see how we have elevated the shopping experience.”

The market offers “goodies, services and gifts” from 50 local and regional vendors, according to LTC. Door prizes from local businesses will be available. Food trucks will also be on-site.

“Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is all about the kids,” said LTC. “The WOW (Words on Wheels) bus will be on-site to provide free books and Santa will be there for photos.”

A silent auction benefiting the Cookeville-Putnam County Animal Shelter will be held upstairs.

“This is a great opportunity for attendees to learn more about the animal shelter and volunteer opportunities,” according to the Center.

Selfies with Santa will also be available Friday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The WOW Bus will be on site Saturday from 11 a.m to 4 p.m., and the first 20 people each day will receive a free “swag bag.”

“Every year, we are lucky enough to host our customer’s banquets, meetings and fundraisers,” said Kathryn Molina, Director of Leslie Town Centre. “Then, every Nov., we get to host our own Mistletoe Market! The proceeds from this event help patron nonprofit organizations through our charitable-giving program called Together We Care. Since 2009, quarterly awards and discounts have benefited many nonprofit organizations through the proceeds of Mistletoe Market.”
